VikiSews Miley bodysuit

VikiSews Miley is a bodysuit pattern with an interesting neckline. I bought this pattern from a UK seller, only to find out that it's from a Russian company, which was not a pleasant surprise. I'm not linking. Because we support Ukraine on this blog. But seeing as they already had my money I might as well get use from it.

The sizing is weird. You have to buy the pattern as one of four possible heights. The usual measurements aren't listed anywhere, but I did find them linked somewhere. I went with the maximum size, a s.52; bust - 116cm, waist - 96cm, hips - 122cm.

They recommend sweater knits, rib knits, lightweight Ponte di Roma, ~200gsm. I used a blue and pink disco ball print French Terry, 95% cotton 5% elastane, 250gsm. A scrap of lighter jersey for the crotch lining, snap tape, narrow elastic for the legs, and clear elastic for the shoulder seams. And black thread.

The fit is weird. The neckline is too high. The arms are a bit too long. The body is a bit too short. Or at the very least requires a full-bust adjustment. If I wear it for long enough the neckline stretches and repositions itself with the opening right over my bust. The top-most neck part cuts into my actual neck (resulting in the shoulder seam ripping), and constantly curls. It really needs to be connected to the lower neckline, somehow, to stay put. And the snap tape is so far back that contortions are required whenever you need the bathroom.

The plus side is that this is my first time using a cover-stitch machine. I know! A friend lent one to me for a bit, and I had fun learning to use it. It's not as hard as I thought, but I do need more practice on the tight curves. Though, the stitches have popped in some places ... most places. I'm not sure if this bodysuit is simply too small (it stretches so much it's hard to figure out), or if I need to up my cover-stitching game. Anyway, yeah, this is a cursed project.
