Me Made May 2024
Alright, it's MeMadeMay, let's do this. I pledgeth thusly;
"I, chebe, pledge to* wear items I have made, modified, or repaired, each day throughout May 2024.
* to try to, not perfectionisting this."
I did this in 2021 and 2023 as well, and always feel a benefit from it. This is another year, and another frankly quite different set of life circumstances. Having become redundant office wear fell right down and off the bottom of my priority list. And being an EMF camp year a whole lot of outer wear pushed right to the top. I also discovered that the natural fibres I'd been favouring are the worst choices for camping in damp climates, so have had to return to polyester for some garments.
Wednesday, 1st.
My black George + Ginger Everlong trousers with a black 37C3 t-shirt, and a trip to the hair dressers.
Thursday, 2nd.
My purple Seamwork Mel joggers with black Seamwork Elli henley for a lazy day.
Friday, 3rd.
Same as yesterday, with Butterick 6287 knit tunic for a sewing level up.
Saturday, 4th.
My black Burda Smoking Trousers with a shirt modified to shorten the shoulders, a waistcoat with a cummerbund-style waist expansion, and (not pictured) coat modified with patches and pins. Yes, bit of a fancy night out.
Sunday, 5th.
Leggings, skirt, t-shirt, with my smiley face Seamwork Lex jumper, and (not pictured) same coat as yesterday. For a somewhat more casual night out.
Monday, 6th.
You know what happens when you go out twice in a row? Lazy days. My purple Seamwork Mel joggers with black Seamwork Elli henley.
Tuesday, 7th.
My boxy black George + George Teen Spirit t-shirt with black jeans.
Wednesday, 8th.
Black jeans, t-shirt, and purple Seamwork Audrey jacket, though it was quite warm and the jacket didn't stay on long.
Thursday, 9th.
My Seamwork Marlow button-up with long shorts, for some emf camp planning on a hot day.
Friday, 10th.
It another hot day, and I'm going out. Black linen Megan Nielsen Tania culottes with a cotton short sleeved shirt. (Not pictured is the long Seamwork Lex I wore home.)
Saturday, 11th.
Actions have consequences, in the form of lazy days. My purple Seamwork Mel joggers with black Seamwork Elli henley.
Sunday, 12th.
Consequences continue. My purple Seamwork Mel joggers with black Seamwork Elli henley.
Monday, 13th.
Today might look the same as previous lazy days, but what happened was I got distracted by emf camp stuff, so what had been planned didn't end up happening. My purple Seamwork Mel joggers with black Seamwork Elli henley.
Tuesday, 14th.
My black George + Ginger Everlong trousers with a black band t-shirt.
Wednesday, 15th.

Saturday, 18th.
Managing to get out of pjs, and into my starry Seamwork Mel joggers with black tshirt and petrol Seamwork Oslo cardigan.
Sunday, 19th.
Much the same as yesterday with my starry Seamwork Mel joggers with black tshirt and petrol Seamwork Oslo cardigan.
Monday, 20th.
Black combats and short-sleeve skully George + Ginger Teen Spirit t-shirt.
Tuesday, 21st.
The lazy claimed me again, in my starry Seamwork Mel joggers with black tshirt and petrol Seamwork Oslo cardigan.
Wednesday, 22nd.
Black leggings, and long black Seamwork Lex jumper. Where did this rain come from?
Thursday, 23rd.
Black combats, repaired t-shirt, and long black Seamwork Lex jumper tied around the waist, just in case.
Friday, 24th.
Black dungarees, t-shirt, and Seamwork Chip knit jacket. The weather is testing me at this point, and I'm failing.
Saturday, 25th.
A family occasion, so dressing up nicely with my black linen Seamwork Emma dress and a black shrug.
Sunday, 26th.
This might be a technicality but, after the family occasion I got changed for a goth night, that mostly happened after midnight. Black crushed velvet 'short and sassy'/handkerchief skirt with black tank top, skully fishnet hoodie, and (not pictured) the modified coat from before. Predictably, Sunday itself was a pjs day.
Monday, 27th.
Just three days to emf camp, and that reality sets in. I spend most of the next few days packing. And mostly in my starry Seamwork Mel joggers with a black t-shirt.
Tuesday, 28th.
Still packing, still in my starry Seamwork Mel joggers with a black t-shirt.
Wednesday, 29th.
Still packing, still in my starry Seamwork Mel joggers with a black t-shirt.
Thursday, 30th.
Up before 5am, airplane, monorail, train, campervan, arrived at emf camp. Then I'd a not fully prepared for mending/patching workshop to give, in my black Seamwork Aberdeen t-shirt, and black joggers.
Friday, 31st.
Point of view here is; I've just consumed a quantity of Buckfast, it's nearly midnight, and I realise I hadn't taken a photo yet. Keeping warm in my Stokx Hacker hoodie and Seamwork Chip jacket, over ripped-and-fishnet leggings, skirt, and t-shirt. Featuring light-up cat ears, glow-stick necklace, and lanyard for the event badge.
Saturday, 1st June.
Not May any more, but to compensate for some missing days here's me reading out questions at a Table Quiz, in my smiley face Seamwork Lex jumper, gilet, stripy t-shirt, shorts, and leggings.
Reflections? Weather this time of year is increasingly unpredictable. What I need, for a more fully Me-Made wardrobe, is; shorts, shirts, more t-shirts, and a small number of nice occasion wear. The jumpers are a welcome addition, and the boucle Chip in particular was incredibly warm (I wore it every night in the sleeping bag to stay toasty). I should also make some of my own pjs, then it'd be hard to miss a day!
