Seamwork Julia tank top, v.2

I made Seamwork's Julia before, but I made it too big. So I grabbed some light grey marl French Terry left over from the Skipper hoodie and made this version in an L. I avoided the entire concept of fold-over-elastic this time and instead went with self-fabric binding. (Making the binding took longer than sewing up the rest of the top.) All the binding, and the hem, are finished with a double-needle. The fit is much better this time, but the shoulders are still too long, so if a v.3 happens they have to made shorter.

But friends. I was a bit fatigued that day, what with all the pressing to make the binding. I should have stopped, but didn't. And I caught the fabric in the blade of my overlocker/serger multiple times. I used decorative stitches to darn the edges back together as invisibly as I could. But it's never truly invisible. Between that, and how I ran out of acceptable thread three times while making this small garment, this was quite a stressful make.

Even my clothing has scars )
