It's the simplest dress (that isn't just a tube) I've seen. If you've never ever made up a pattern before all the bits and pieces you have to think of might get a bit overwhelming at times. But it is straight-forward, no massive amounts of trickery. I think if you are determined to do it you'd be fine. The most annoying parts are at the start; fitting/altering the pattern and cutting out the fabric. If you don't give up then you're sorted, really.
