Well that is true! Though the same can be said for Fedora/Gnome3. A while back I was using, well attempting to anyway, fluxbox and lxde on Fedora13; trying to extend the battery life on my poor little netbook. And to be fair, both Unity and Gnome3 are quite good in that regard. And let's not forget KDE!
But I like to look at distros from the 'out-of-box' point of view, to see what people, completely new to linux, would be faced with. And in that regard I'm kinda disappointed.
