A little indulgence if you will...
2011-Nov-02, Wednesday 08:28 pmI'm going to ask you for a little indulgence here as I talk about something quite outside my normal topics; make-up. It's okay if you tune out now, don't worry, this is most likely a one-time thing.
I like wearing make-up. Not all the time, no, and I certainly don't like having to wear make-up. But there are times when I do want to paint my face, and when that happens I like to have the widest palette available to me. Strong, bold, colours. Sadly what I like is often very hard to find. Of course there are the giants of Urban Decay and MAC to fall back on. But when I find a lipstick or eyeshadow I like with MAC next season it tends to disappear. And while I adore every eye-product Urban Decay do, sometimes I get tired of all the glitter that inevitably gets everywhere. So I went looking for alternatives.
First I stumbled upon Miss X. Such bright colours, it seemed a dream come true. Until I realised most of everything was sold out. And it still seems that way, but maybe, soon, they'll restock? *sigh* I did manage to snap up a purple and red gel liner that are a joy to use.
Then in my continuing search for a real-red shadow I came across Sugarpill, who not only do fantastic loose glittery shadows, but also have the greatest set of matte bold colours I have ever come across! I now own all the pressed shadows, and eagerly await any new ones. Highly recommended.
But by now I'd been hooked. So I continued looking, but rarely came across anything new or special. Until I found Satellite3. Satelitte3 is a cyber-themed make-up of just 'face' powders and lipsticks. Which come in little UFO and rocket shaped containers. Best part of which is, they're refillable! You only need buy the containers once, then when you run out you simply buy refils of any colour you want! The UFO container holds two powders (any combination of your choosing) and when they arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how generously sized the portions are. The colours are, as you'd expect, a bit cybery and space themed. The two shadows here are called 'Cyborg Chic' and 'Fly Me To The Moon', while the lipstick is called 'Beam Me Up'. Perhaps this is a kind of whimsy you either get immediately or simply don't understand, but the cosmetics are of good quality and I'm so going to enjoy carrying around UFOs and Rockets on a night out.
I would like to hear if anyone has found any other brand that they would highly recommend, as I can't seem to get enough :D
Note: I am not advertising these products. I am not being sponsored by anyone to tell you about these. I just really like them and felt like geeking out for a bit. We now return to regularly scheduled programming.
