Well, that was easy.

In about two hours I went from a funny idea to having the thing be real. I found out that all mastodon accounts have RSS built in. Naturally my mind went to a self-hosted aggregator. The internet yielded an article from Linux Magazine about KrISS feed, available on github (and updated last month).

It really is simple. You save the index.php from the repo, put in a folder on your server, and then just access it through your browser. It asks you to set a password, and then you can start adding feeds. The interface is a bit old school, and I'm still figuring it all out. But basically, you can add feeds independently (don't let the 'upload opml' page confuse you), and to update them you press 'u'. You can make it available to others, or not. I haven't figured out if you can have multiple/split feeds, so I've just thrown a whole lot of things in together. But here is the aggregator view for my chaos.social account and this blog; feeds 🤣
