George + Ginger's Paranoid is an over-sized flannel shirt. If you're wondering why I would make a flannel shirt in Summer, good question, I'm not sure, other than I needed one in general.

I made this up in solid black 100% cotton flannel, 165g/m2 weight, with 9 11mm slate grey buttons. (The grey looks really nice against the black, might try more of this accent thing in future.) Normally when a pattern suggests one patch pocket I add zero pockets. But see, chest pockets belong on outerwear (but only outerwear), so I added two. The back has a yoke, the collar is soft, and shaped like a collar, but really only one piece, and the cuffed sleeves don't have real plankets. (At least I managed to not get the buttons twisted this time.) When adding buttons to the centre-front I believe I misinterpreted the instructions, and added horizontal buttonholes. (They just barely fit.) I had a moment of freaking out. But I was rewatching old tv shows at the time, and noticed that most of their shirts had horizontal buttonholes. So I began to feel better. And, the front is visually cleaner for them, so I think I can live with them.

I made it up in a size XL/16. Which is two sizes smaller than the measurements suggested. The fit is strange. The front is a lot narrower than the back. This means the front half is a close fit, and the back is loose. It works, I'm just not sure how much I like it. Might go up a size in a next version.

A long oversized black flannel shirt, with long sleeves, curved hem, two square patch pockets, and slate grey buttons, hanging from a white hanger against a white wardrobe.
