George + Ginger's The Teen Spirit Top is undeniably my go-to top pattern. This is v4, but basically the same as v3; size 14, regular length, straight hem, with neckband. But no sleeves this time (other than the included drawn-on/dropped sleeve).

For the fabric I'm using old t-shirts. More specifically the backs of very old t-shirts I had cut up, to use the fronts in a quilt. Which, I hope, will get done sometime in my lifetime.

George + Ginger's The RuLo Top and Dress pattern is mix-and-match knit top pattern with a range of body and sleeve options. Still in the outerwear mindset I wanted something I could layer over other things, but under actual outerwear.

George + Ginger's The Teen Spirit Top is the boxy over-sized t-shirt I just won't quit. I've made it before (v1, v2s) and I'm making it again.

George + Ginger's Paranoid is an over-sized flannel shirt. If you're wondering why I would make a flannel shirt in Summer, good question, I'm not sure, other than I needed one in general.

George + Ginger's Everlong are unlined woven trousers, with pockets, a 8" regular side-zipper, tucks in front, and darts in back. The pattern very helpfully has registration marks to help you grade between sizes at multiple points through the legs.

And now for a rarity on this blog; a dress. But at least it's a 90's style grungy jersey dress. George + Ginger's Malibu dress is two almost identical pieces front and back, but the front has a lower neckline. It comes in two lengths, but the short version seems very short, so I went for regular. You bind the front and back necklines in self-fabric, then bind the armscyes (catching the neckline edges), and continue past the end of the fabric to make straps. Double-folded hem, (very, very long hem) and done.

One thing I am trying to learn is how to work with prints. Prints are by far the most widely available kind of fabrics, but I'm very much a solids with occasional graphic kind of person. This will be a journey. To ease myself in I got this all-over dark-grey on medium-grey print of skulls and flowers. It's a knit GOTS Organic Cotton Jersey (95% Cotton, 5% Elastic), 200gsm weight. The wrong side of the fabric is just white, which bugs me, because when stretched a lot it becomes visible on the outside. Good thing I have a nice knit t-shirt pattern that barely asks its fabric to stretch at all, the George + Ginger's The Teen Spirit Top.

Realistic all-over print of skulls and flowers, in dark grey on medium grey, (with white wrong-side of the fabric visible at the neckline) jersey fabric over-sized boxy t-shirts with wide necks. The t-shirt on the left has long sleeves, the t-shirt on the right has short sleeves and is shorter in length. Both are hanging from clothes hangers against a room divider (white with black frame).

George + Ginger's The Teen Spirit Top is an oversized boxy t-shirt pattern, with a bunch of possible variations. Be still my grungy heart.

This one was fun. Over-sized patterns rarely have noticeable fit issues, so it removes a whole level of work and stress. I decided to try this in a stretch black fishnet (92% Polyester, 8% Elastane) fabric. The combination I went with is the full length straight-hem t-shirt, with neckband, and sleeves. I didn't press anything, I didn't finish any of the seams, and I didn't hem anything. Yes, I am a monster. But, this fabric isn't likely to fray, and I think it adds to the grunge. Sewn up in about an hour.

Picked the 20/2X size. I could go down a size (or two), but I also feel like that might miss the point of this kind of t-shirt.
