Named Saana puffer vest
2026-Jan-07, Wednesday 12:45 amNamed's Saana is a puffer vest/gilet, but the sides are completely open, facilitating the wearing of dolman-type sleeves while staying cozy.
I went with a size XXL, which is probably too big, but exact fit is not required. I made a partial toile, to check the bust and neck, and ended up making just the lazy adjustment of extending the dart points by 6cm, on the lining and the outside.
I used left over black (pre-)quilted (faux-)suede, 100% Polyester, 265gsm, for the outside, and left over flannel fabrice plain, in black, 100% Cotton, 165g/m2, for the lining (even needing to piece around the shoulders to make it go far enough).
Notions used; 70cm/28" open ended double zipper, black, 25mm wide reflective webbing (that I used in place of the directed self-fabric belt), 25mm wide clip buckle, black. With black thread, a heavy needle, and a walking foot.
The fit is too big. But also pinches/puffs strangely around the back waistband, the front pockets bulge/fold up when seated, and I'm never sure the shoulders are sitting in the right spot. It does the job well, but I'd probably prefer it in a closer fit.
