Painting Pottery
2021-Jul-07, Wednesday 05:15 pmI have really been feeling the effects of accumulated stress lately. And this week have been at the point where I am being physically restricted from being 'productive'. By my body, who is just nope-ing out on me. So this week I painted a pot. I have not painted a pot, or any clay, since primary school. It was very relaxing.
The pot is supposedly a flower pot, but even after it's glazed, it isn't the most water resistant, so think more along the lines of cacti flowers. The paints are tempera (or fancy poster paints), and quite thick, so I couldn't get the kind of flow I wanted, but adapted. (Which is easy, when you have no plan.) Couple of days later I applied two coats of DecoArt Triple Thick Brilliant Brush-On Gloss Glaze, because that's what they gave me. I'm least familiar with this part, and my glaze is a bit clumpy in places, but at least the pot is decently covered. You also really want to do this near an open window.
Now I have a unique pot. That matches nothing. To hold ... something. But I did really enjoy painting it.
