Seamwork's Clarke is a loose-fitting tank top, that is meant for bursting your stash. Clearly I've misunderstood that term this whole time because this top requires a significant amount of fabric for the type of top it is. I have made this before (version 1), and there are some changes I'd like to make.

Seamwork Clarke vest top

Seamwork's Clarke is a straight-forward a-line vest-top, for wovens or knits. It is half lined with its own facing. I used a white-print-on-black woven, which I think is a polyester, with a shirting weight.

I made a mistake when I was supposed to be stitching the facing to the seam allowance, instead edgestitching all the layers together. And rather than unpick I just went with it. So my neckline and armholes are all very narrowly edgestitched.

As a result I had to snip some seam allowance fabric when stitching the side seams to get them to sit flat. I also couldn't join the straps properly. Instead I simply stitched them together, pressed the seam to one side, and stitched it flat.

The hem line is not as flat as I would have expected, instead it seems to curve upwards into the centre seams. I pressed and pulled the seams as much as possible, but it does mean that the top as a whole is a bit short. Will have to add some length in any future versions. Otherwise a light and breezy top.
