Quick lilac cotton bib
2019-Oct-16, Wednesday 10:45 pmI knew I wouldn't be able to find overalls, especially in the time, so I drafted a quick overalls bib-like pattern, that would be separate to the trousers, to be made in some lilac 100% cotton fabric.
I started with a waist measurement, and the idea of something roughly A4 in size, but with diagonal lines. It's not easy to make out but maybe you can see how I built up the pattern on squared pattern paper.
I cut four of the pattern, sewed right-side together in pairs, turned right-side out and top-stitched around the edges. Made straps from lengths of fabric, folded in on itself and top-stitched along the edge. The straps are longer than needed because they are always worn down and never as supports. The front and back are sewn together at one side, other side left open for access and fastened with safety pins when needed.
Turns out I made the bib too long/high, and should take a couple of inches out of any future versions. I also made the waist too low, and so should reduce the width a fair amount. Otherwise did the job.
