Leather notebook cover

A friend had a synthetic notebook cover that was falling apart. It was a simple flat cover, that held the notebook with an elastic, threaded through holes in the spine. We got the idea to replace it with a leather one. I took measurements in the pub, we went shopping for supplies, and I got to making.

Leather craft workshop

2022-Jun-22, Wednesday 09:40 pm
Last weekend I took a "Beginner's Leather-Craft Workshop" at the Dublin Leather Store. They warned us we'd be tired afterwards, but did not convey just how tired. It's like sewing, but on hard mode. I had a great time, and am fairly hooked.

Basically, we got pieces of 'pink' natural vegetable tanned leather, cut it, dyed it with water-based dyes, buffed with balm, marked and punched stitch holes, stitched closed, then finished by burnishing edges or applying a wax coat.
